What does the neurologist do?

Just don’t lose your nerve

Neurology deals with the entire nervous system and its diseases. Because the fine lines no longer work correctly, the quality of life is massively restricted.

Wide treatment field
After a detailed anamnesis, our team knows whether other medical specialties such as neurosurgery, internal medicine or ophthalmology need to be consulted. In addition, we test the balance, taking into account the psychological well-being of our patients, check pulse and blood pressure.

In Neurology Dénia, we treat nerve pain, migraines, multiple sclerosis and patients who have suffered a stroke, among other things.

What diseases does the neurologist treat?

Some of the treatment areas

Stroke

According to estimates by the World Health Organization (WHO), stroke is the number two cause of death worldwide with an estimated 5.5 million deaths per year. Older patients are particularly affected by strokes. Due to demographic change and the increasing aging of society, more and more strokes will be treated in the future.

The treatment options for an ischemic stroke have improved significantly in recent years, especially with early first aid: various promising therapies are available with systemic lysis therapy and mechanical thrombectomy as well as early hemicraniectomy in the case of large ischemic strokes.

Parkinson's

The idiopathic Parkinson’s syndrome is one of the most common neurological diseases that can currently only be treated symptomatically with medication, since curative approaches are not yet known. In Parkinson’s patients, among other things, the brain messenger substance dopamine is no longer produced sufficiently, which leads to movement disorders.

Multiple sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is one of the most common chronic diseases of the central nervous system in young people. In this disease, nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord are damaged by a faulty immune response. Multiple sclerosis usually progresses in phases and results in increasing paralysis, sensitivity disorders and personality changes. Since nerve cell damage can occur anywhere in the central nervous system, the symptoms vary greatly from person to person. Drug therapy is varied and aims to reduce the frequency of relapses.
